The CPHA Foundation Board of Directors has outlined an ambitious 2009 calendar of events for fund raising. The foundation has increased its budgeted funds for:
HOREMEN’S EMERGENCY AID—SCHOLARSIPS—FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ATTENDING CLINICS.
In order to meet these goals, the foundation counts on the generous support of the equestrian and non-equestrian community to participate and sponsor at the fund raising events. The Foundation was able to give aid that exceeded $35,000 in aid, which includes helping to save 32 horses in desperate need at the Humane Society of Ventura County. We also gave out 6 scholarships to children of professionals going to college. We hope to sponsor several educational clinics this year to increase knowledge and care of being a horse owner.
“AN EVENING OF BOWLIND” for the Foundation-Friday, May 23, 2009
Our first fundraiser for 2009, as many of remember, this was initiated in 2006 and is back again by popular demand. We all had a great deal of fun the last few years while raising money for the Foundation. This event coincides with the Memorial Day Classic and is held conveniently at Pickwick bowl. Start gathering your teams and look for the advertisement in the Memorial Day Classic Premium book. There is space for only 24 teams and we anticipate filling them all.
MEGA-BUCKS DRAING-DAY, AUGUST 22, 2009
Another annual activity for the Foundation, the “Mega-Bucks Raffle” is the major fund raiser, generating over $15,000.00 last year. We will draw the winning tickets at the CPHA Foundation Equitation Championships. With cash prizes of $2000.00, $1000.00 or $500.00, we hope you will purchase many chances to win as only 200 tickets are available for purchase.
Other opportunities to support the Foundation are to purchase tables at the CPHA JR/AM Medal Finals and the WCE and Onondarka Medal Finals. For those of you who have purchased tales, you will agree it is a great way to view the finals and enjoy food and conversation.
We also have had many individuals make the Foundation a part of their annual charitable contributions, which is greatly appreciated. Anyone interested simply need to download a donation form off of the website or contact the CPHA Executive Director Ruth Frazier; she will provide you necessary documentation of your donation.
The last fund raiser, the Foundation Silent Auction, is actually held at the beginning of the year during the PCHA Convention. Our auction had an overwhelming response of donation and plentiful kind purchasers. This was the second year the auction was held at the PCHA Convention and we look forward to another successful auction in January 2010.
I would like to personally thank all of the supporters of the CPHA Foundation. Without you, the Foundation would not have been able to contribute to those in need of financial aid for medical expenses, fund the scholarships or give assistance for equestrian clinics.
Gail Horrigan,
President, CPHA Foundation
